Ritalin Gone Wrong
I came across this article and thought about my many families who may benefit from reading this. Psychologist and professor emritus L. Alan Sroufe discusses the problems with stimulant medications for treatment of attention deficit in his article Ritalin Gone Wrong.
Ritalin, Adderall and other attention-deficit medications do help people focus and concentrate in the short term. However, Dr. Sroufe argues that studies show the effects wear off over time, and the drugs can have serious side effects, including stunting growth. |

When I first started looking at all the sugar in the food we were eating, I was shocked. I didn't know there was sugar in milk. I also noticed that the kids that seem to really like diets filled with concentrated sugar also consume large quantities of carbohydrates. I am finding out that the best way to get away from the sugar is to eat more protein. Here is a great recipe for a protein breakfast and it tastes good too. Blend: 1/4C protein powder (unsweetened -whey or soy or other) |
